Have you ever taken into consideration the health of your baby’s scalp and hair?

At birth you might notice that your baby’s skin and hair seem perfectly perfect, however, changes are sure to come. We all know that a baby’s scalp (skin) and hair will likely go through many changes through the first several months after birth. These changes are normal due to their new environment.  They may develop baby acne and their hair texture may change or even thin.

Don’t worry, there’s no need to panic and go on a product experimenting rage. Keep in mind that your baby’s scalp is sensitive and can be easily irritated.

Your Baby’s Hair is Talking - Kraddle Kare

So as you begin to learn what does and does not work for your baby’s skin and hair keep these tips in mind.

  1. Although washing is necessary, avoid over-washing to reduce possible drying or irrigation. When choosing a shampoo chose a natural product that is also gentle for baby’s. Through experience, I have learned that some baby brand shampoos may be somewhat drying so pay attention to the after results.
  2. Since every baby is different it is important to use what works best for each baby even if they are siblings. Brands and ingredients that work for one may cause issues with a sibling. It’s ok to ask other parents what they use or even experiment with different brands but pays close attention to the effect.
  3. The moderate use of natural oils will help with issues of drying (ie EVOO, almond oil, seed oil, etc)
  4. Introduce new products one at a time. This allows you to see if there are any negative reaction to new products as well as a chance to see how products are actually working. In cases of serious irritation always consult with your baby’s doctor
