You can treat it by applying a topical antifungal or use an antifungal shampoo. Also, you must wash beddings using hot water and detergent.

Here are some tips that you should include in your hair regimen. It is very important that you’re maintaining proper hair hygiene, especially with an itchy scalp.

  • Shampoo your hair with a mild shampoo. Make sure to RINSE all of the shampoos out.
  • Shampoo with your fingertips in a circular motion to stimulate blood circulation. This also promotes hair growth.
  • Use a conditioner or deep conditioner immediately after rinsing the shampoo out. Let that sit for a few minutes with a shower cap (with or without heat). Next, rinse well.
  • Use a leave-in apple cider vinegar rinse to combat the itchy scalp.
  • Massage it to your scalp in a circular motion and add seal your hair with a moisturizing cream

 

Home Remedies for an Itchy Scalp

Here are home remedies that are effective to the itchy scalp:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar – it helps to reduce the itchiness of the dry scalp. After applying shampoo, you can rinse it with apple cider vinegar to lessen dandruff and reduce the itchiness of your scalp.
  • Coconut Oil – is a soothing treatment for your scalp.
  • Peppermint Oil – can reduce dandruff and itchiness of your scalp. Apply and massage it before you shampoo your hair.
  • Zinc Pyrithione Shampoo – These types of shampoos are available in drugstores and in other retail outlets. The amount of zinc pyrithione in each shampoo varies by brand, so you may need to experiment with several to find the one which works best for you. It will help to reduce itchiness to your scalp.
